Here are some interesting facts about sea turtles:

Female sea turtles lay 100-125 eggs per nest and will nest multiple times. Sand tempurature determine the sex of the hatchlings. Cooler incubation temperatures produce male hatchlings and warmer temperatures produce females. Temperatures that fluctuate between the two extremes will produce a mix of male and females.

Leatherback sea turtles have existed in their current form since the age of the dinosaurs. Leatherbacks are highly migratory, some swimming more than 10,000 miles a year between nesting and foraging grounds.

Sea turtles breathe air, but they have the ability to remain submerged for hours at a time.

The oldest sea turtle is said to be around 400 years old and is in captivity in the Guangzhou Aquarium in China. Sea and land turtles in the wild can have a lifespan of 80 - 200 years.
