Bricolage Abstract Art Workshop

Bricolage Abstract Art Workshop
BRICOLAGE: Making Art From What We Have
What happens when you stop shopping for art supplies and start looking at what’s already around you a little differently?
Join Stacy Gresell and Lisa Morales for an afternoon inspired by the art of bricolage — the creation of something new and beautiful from a diverse collection of things that happen to be available.
And we mean it when we say nothing new is being purchased for this workshop!
We’re digging into our stashes of saved papers, fabric scraps, journal pages, sketchbook experiments, tissue paper, interesting packaging, junk mail, soap wrappers and all those little bits and pieces we artists save because someday we might do something with them.
Well...someday is September 26th!
Bring your own stash of treasures — some to keep and some to share — and Stacy and Lisa will open up theirs, too. Together, we’ll trade, layer, experiment and transform the ordinary into something completely original.
For the first time, Stacy and Lisa will be teaching an abstract project, taking inspiration from the incredible patterns, shapes and markings found in butterfly and moth wings. Rather than recreating a particular wing, we’ll blow those elements up and interpret them in a loose, impressionistic way.
You’ll choose a color palette that speaks to you and build your piece layer by layer using paper, fabric, texture, pattern and unexpected found materials. You’ll also learn new techniques for working with fabric and gold leaf, while discovering how everyday ephemera can become part of a beautiful mixed media composition.
The best part? Your finished artwork will literally contain little pieces of you — your papers, your marks, your memories, your color choices and your creative instincts.
And then there's the BRIE...
We simply could not host a bricolage workshop without a little Brie!
We’ll provide the cheese. You’re invited to bring wine, fruit, crackers or another favorite nibble to share while we create. Come ready to experiment, play, make a little mess and spend the afternoon surrounded by art, inspiration and creative company.
